San Francisco, California (PressExposure) August 23, 2013 -- OPSWAT today announced the official release of Security Score, a free tool for easily evaluating the security status of computers. The security tool also generates recommendations for users on how to help improve the security of their machine.
Secure Score allows users to scan and assess their system for installed security applications and provides a numerical score. The score is calculated based on the status of applications across multiple categories including antivirus, antiphishing, firewall and others. OPSWAT Security Score is powered by the OESIS Framework which is a development toolkit that detects, assesses and manages third-party applications installed on a device. Security Score makes use of the capabilities of OESIS to retrieve the information about the status of detected security applications in order to calculate the computer's score.
The official release of Security Score includes several new features, such as daily scans for updates to the computer's score and a log of the threats that have been detected by the antivirus software installed on the computer. The tool includes an automatic updating feature that will ensure users receive the latest improvements to Security Score.
"The official release of Security Score is incredibly exciting for all of us at OPSWAT," said Dustin DeCoursey, Product Manager at OPSWAT. "With the valuable feedback we received from our beta testers, we are confident that the tool will give users the ability to easily monitor the security of their computer."
Security Score also displays the OPSWAT Certification level of each detected product. OPSWAT recently announced that more than 1000 OPSWAT certifications have been award to more than 100 security software partners including Avira, AVG, Bitdefender, McAfee and many others. OPSWAT operates the OPSWAT Certification Program with the goal of promoting and expanding interoperability in the software industry.
