Philadelphia, PA (PressExposure) September 01, 2011 -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court recently appointed Penina Kessler Lieber, with the Pittsburgh office of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP, as Chair of the Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyers Trust Account (IOLTA) Board. The IOLTA program funds civil legal services to the needy. Lieber has been a two-term member of the Board and recently served as vice chair. Lieber, a member of the Firm's Business and Finance Department, concentrates her practice area in nonprofit and tax exempt organizations.
She represents nonprofit organizations in a wide range of legal matters - including tax, charitable trust litigation, corporate restructuring, governance, employment, licensing & accreditation, financing, public-private partnerships nonprofit mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. She has been repeatedly selected on the "Pennsylvania "Super Lawyers®" list.
Lieber is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, was a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (BA, 1963; MA 1973) and a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Harvard University. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (1986), where she was a member of the Law Review. As Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, she has taught the courses on nonprofit and tax-exempt law since 1994.
