Toronto, Ontario Canada (PressExposure) October 25, 2011 -- Barbara Berezowski, Olympian and former Miss Toronto has just been confirmed to participate in the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Cross-Country Relay as it makes it's way through Toronto on November 5th, 2011.
Barbara, along with her skating partner, David Porter were Canada's Ice Dance Champions in 1975 and 1976. They were also World Professional Skating Champions and toured as professionals with Toller Cranston and then starred in Johnson and Shipstad's Ice Follies.
You may also remember that Barbara was Miss Toronto and was also named Miss Olympics during the Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria in 1976.
This sports celebrity resides in Etobicoke and was inducted into the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. She is now an Inspirational Speaker focusing on messages of motivation and stresses the importance of recognizing the positive benefits of sport and daily physical activity. She is the proud mother of two sons who play baseball with the Toronto Maple Leaf Baseball Team of the IBL.
It is very fitting to have Barbara participate in the Rick Hansen Relay as she has been an inspiration to many. As a medal bearer in this event, her intent is to show her commitment to the Rick Hansen Foundation and to raise awareness of their great accomplishments and their need for everyone's continued support.
Barbara has personally dedicated her segment of the relay to a wonderful young lady, Elizabeth Brannon, who shows a tremendous spirit to live, love and laugh, despite her limitations.
Come out to support Barbara Berezowski in her segment of the 25th Anniversary Cross-Country Relay in celebration of Rick Hansen's original Man In Motion World Tour. You can see Barbara on November 5, 2011 as she proudly carries Rick Hansen's Medal. She will appear at 4:15pm to run her segment of the Relay along Yonge Street, just south of St. Clair.
