New Delhi, Delhi India (PressExposure) October 21, 2011 -- Glion Institute of Higher Education, Switzerland, in partnership with the Taj group of hotels, has launched an online MBA programme that gives you the opportunity to get the degree within two and a half years. But the competition is tough, for the programme's annual intake is just 25.
The programme provides working professionals in the hospitality sector an opportunity to hone their skills in areas such as e- marketing, human resource management, finance and accounting, data driven decision- making and global strategic management - subjects they don't get to study in hotel management schools but have to deal with in their day- to- day work.
The flexibility of the programme allows working professionals to pursue their studies without taking a break from work," Anouk Tenten, partnership manager, Glion Online MBA, said in the Capital.
The World Travel & Tourism Council estimates the sector to contribute 47 million jobs by 2021. That would put immense pressure for industry- ready qualified professionals, especially as international tourist arrival numbers go up steadily from the present 6 million.
With more hotels, resorts and restaurants opening around the country, it is important for professionals to stand out from the crowd by equipping themselves with the skills and knowledge to become leaders in a globalised market.
Candidates who enroll for the Glion's online MBA are professionals with a minimum average experience of 17 years. Though the programme is for two and a half years, professionals who cannot complete it within the allotted time have the option of seeking an extension and finishing the course in four years.
The programme doesn't have exams; instead, students are given assignments at the end of each module. Academic instruction is based on the time schedule given to the students in their respective countries. Glion has 21 faculty members teaching online and the student/teacher ratio is 1: 15. Located on two campuses in Switzerland, Glion is active in the fields of hospitality, tourism, sports and entertainment management. Glion is also one of the first hospitality institutions to offer a 100 percent Online MBA in International Hospitality & Service Industries Management. Check it out.
