Over 1,300 People Unite And Join Forces On Accor - Earth Guest Day 2009

, Thailand (PressExposure) May 07, 2009 -- Accor has mobilised its work force and local communities in Vietnam for Earth Guest Day. Accor hotels employees in destinations such as Dalat, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Ha Long Bay and Phu Quoc Island, joined forces, to help improve the environment.

The hotels staged massive beach, river and lake clean-up campaigns around this year's theme, which is 'Water', involving local communities in the area to increase the outcomes.

Novotel Phan Thiet Ocean Dunes & Golf Resort, the first resort in Vietnam to be Green Globe certified, engaged approximately 600 people from the hotel, golf club, local community, partners and sponsors to conduct a thorough clean-up of the hotel beach, public beach, surrounding areas along the street and both sides of the Ca Ty river bank.

In Dalat, also known as Little Paris, around 500 people, consisting of 150 staff from Sofitel Dalat Palace and Novotel Dalat, and 350 youngsters from the Youths of Dalat City, participated in the clean-up of Xuan Huong Lake and the rubbish bins on the nearby streets.

Novotel Nha Trang, a coastal hotel which opened late last year, gathered over 100 hotel staff, guests, and the local community in cooperation with the Nha Trang Environment Department, in order to clean up a two-kilometer portion of Nha Trang beach in front of the hotel.

In the countries south - La Veranda Resort and Spa on Phu Quoc Island organized a beach cleanup activity for over 110 hotel staff and guests along Long Beach, the island's main beach, and Bai Sao Beach, one of the island's prettiest and most underdeveloped beaches.

Novotel Ha Long Bay in a beautiful UNESCO listed World Heritage area also led over 50 hotel staff, guests, and local boat operators to clean up the Ha Long Beach.
