Packington Free Range Stockists Shine With Industry Awards

Nottingham, United Kingdom (PressExposure) April 19, 2013 -- Packington Free Range, the Staffordshire-based pork and poultry farmers are celebrating the achievements of three of its major UK stockists. Jon Thorner's, Cheerbrook Farm Shop and JW Mettrick & Son have all won prestigious industry awards for the quality of their produce, created using meat supplied by Packington.

Jon Thorner's in Shepton Mallet, Somerset has been awarded a Gold Medal for its Pork Pie and a Silver for its Pork Loin Roast at the Meat Expo 2013 Awards in Belgium (March 24-27). The bi-annual contest included entries from a strong UK contingent representing the national Q Guild, which Jon Thorner is a member. Packington Free Range work closely with Thorner's in delivering a range of pork products to online retailer Ocado.

JW Mettrick & Son based in Glossop, Derbyshire are Packington's single biggest buyer of free range pork and congratulate them on being awarded two coveted titles recently - Butcher of the Year in the Countryside Alliance annual awards held at the Houses of Parliament and Master Butcher under the Meat Training Council's accreditation scheme which was awarded to the owner John Mettrick by HRH Princess Anne. John is the first Master Butcher in the North West, and only the 10th to be given the title in the UK in praise for his understanding and management of the supply chain.

Finally, following BPEX successful National Bacon Connoisseurs Week (18-24 March) which Packington Free Range supported with its own local bacon awareness campaign, Cheerbrook Farm Shop based in Nantwich, Cheshire proudly collected the Overall Butchers' Winner trophy for its traditional dry cured back bacon in The Great Bacon Revolution Awards.

"We are all passionate about producing high welfare, good quality pork for the British consumer - and all of these recent awards give us all a sense of pride in what we do.
