Mesquite, TX (PressExposure) November 03, 2011 -- Paragon Industries will hold a 1-1/2 day Basic Kiln Maintenance Seminar at the Mesquite, Texas kiln factory on February 10 - 11, 2012. Mesquite is 30 minutes east of Dallas. Paragon's head engineer and staff will teach the seminar.
The seminar covers basic electricity, the multimeter, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting, parts replacement such as switches and heating elements, the Kiln Sitter, and much more. We will give you a tour of the factory and answer your kiln questions.
"Every seminar is unique," said John S. Hohenshelt, president of Paragon, "because we alter the material to suit each group of students. This is why some students come repeatedly. They learn something new each time."
The seminar fee pays for breakfast and lunch both days and dinner the first evening. Call ahead before booking your flight. If you arrive at Love Field or DFW International Airport in the early afternoon, we can usually pick you up from the airport. Paragon will shuttle the students to the airports after the seminar on Saturday at around noon.
Frances Darby, the founder of Paragon, gave the first seminars. They were limited to Paragon distributors. Now they are open to anyone. Typically, electricians, school maintenance people who install kilns, distributors, kiln owners, and kiln technicians attend the seminars.
"One of the most important procedures we cover is replacing heating elements," said Arnold Howard, spokesman for Paragon. "We emphasize the importance of tight connections and proper threading of the element into the grooves. We also cover kiln diagnostics, which includes the earlier manual-fire kilns and the popular digital models.
"People who think the digital models are difficult to understand are pleasantly surprised at the seminar," said Howard. "A digital kiln is simple to understand once you are familiar with the basic components: the controller, the transformer, relays, the fuse and fuse holder, thermocouple, and heating elements."
