Hendersonville, TN (PressExposure) April 19, 2008 -- Part Two of the story that shakes the Phantom mythology to its core continues with the latest variant issue from Comic Collector Live and Moonstone Publishing. The special variant cover is the work of Brian Denham ( IRON MAN: Hypervelocity) one of the comic book industryâs emerging talents.
Comic Collector Live produced the previous variant in the current storyline of the Phantom by commissioning legendary comic book artist Don Perlin to do the special Black and White variant cover. Steve Boyd, Site Director for CCL, explains the companyâs vision in doing the projects. âWe wanted to showcase both the older and the newer styles since the Phantom has been one of the longest running characters,â says Steve. âHaving original artwork from a pioneer like Don Perlin and contrasting his work with Brian Denhamâs allows collectors to own a couple of variants that span the Golden Era of comics to the present.â]
Comic Collector Live has held back a limited number of the Don Perlin rendering of the Phantom (#21) to be offered at the upcoming New York Comic Con at the Javits Center, April 18-20, and will also be selling the latest Phantom variant edition (#22) featuring Denhamâs cover.
Comic Collector Live CEO Joe Butler expressed delight with the latest variant. âBrianâs art is just fantastic. Weâve had him do a lot of the art for our print ads and we knew his finished cover would thrill Phantom collectors.â
