Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (PressExposure) July 26, 2011 -- Recently, the Playa del Carmen real estate market benefited from the fulfilment of various municipal level government promises, including an urban clean-up program. The important point is that the Municipal government has been active in creating an environment suitable for expat buyers and property investors.
The recent promises of the Municipal Government include commitments made to citizens to approve the leasing and acquiring of property necessary for the proper functioning of public services, as well as the clean-up program for vacant urban lots.
During the eighth regular meeting, council members approved a budget of up to 50 million pesos (a bit less than $5 million USD) to lease equipment and enhance public safety and public services in Playa del Carmen and surrounding communities. In this regard, Filiberto Martinez, mayor, explained that this lease will only be applied during the period covered by the current administration 2011-2013.
The council also approved a move to implement the clean-up program for vacant lots in these areas, which are unsightly, and can give the city a poor image. It is now required for the owners to proceed with the clean-up of land, who will have five days to do the job.
This move, especially, is important for buyers considering investing in Playa del Carmen homes for sale. More buyers in the Playa del Carmen area have started investing in fixer-upper homes in areas just beginning to show signs of gentrification. This clean-up program will help accelerate the increase of value of these areas, improving the visual appeal of the neighbourhoods.
On this issue, the mayor said at the time there were more than 900 abandoned properties in this city. The clean-up of these areas has been an important issue for citizens, investors and government. This program will further contribute to the property and investment value of Playa del Carmen, which, to date, has been very good.
