Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (PressExposure) November 12, 2010 -- Playa del Carmen has been one of Latin America's fastest growing communities, and to support the large amount of investment taking place in Playa del Carmen real estate, the municipal government has undertaken a high number of ongoing paving projects, both in terms of re-paving and in new roads. This, in turn, has been helping to increase property value and bring investors return on their purchases.
One of the most recent of these projects began in mid-October, and involves the repaving of a large area of downtown roads. With a total investment of about $1.5 million USD (18.5 million pesos) the municipality government began resurfacing on about 5 miles (7.5 kilometers) of streets, in an area ranging from 10th Avenue (the next street back from the beach after the Fifth Avenue tourist and shopping area) back to 45th Avenue, between the two major access roads from the highway to the beach, Juarez Avenue to Constituyentes Avenue.
This work, which will be completed in 4 stages, will directly benefit about 30,000 inhabitants, many of which are American, Canadian and European residents who own Playa del Carmen condos in the area north of 8th Street (about halfway between Juarez and Constituyentes.
Due to the central location, this repaving project especially will also benefit the population of Playa del Carmen in general, providing better access to the stores, shopping areas and services of downtown, including the beach, the Fifth Avenue tourist area, Walmart and other large grocery stores.
In addition to improving quality of life for residents, the repaving will help to maintain the city's image in the eyes of tourists, and healthy tourism is the backbone of the growth and investment opportunities which have appeared in Playa del Carmen.
Other recent paving projects have also included large areas of working-class neighborhoods, which help to develop the city's atmosphere and lifestyle in general, and the completion of a four-lane arch-road which by-passes the downtown stretch of the federal highway, and also provides fast, easy access to the city's two large malls. It has also provided access to some of the newest, most upscale Playa del Carmen land developments in this area of the city.
Perhaps the most important infrastructure project has been a set of highway bridges being built over this same stretch of highway to provide faster passage for traffic passing through. These two last projects will help tremendously to avoid traffic issues, which, so far, Playa del Carmen has not had to deal with.
