Bristol, United Kingdom (PressExposure) February 04, 2009 -- When Skyquest Aviation Ltd, specialists in airborne surveillance equipment wanted a new film, they demanded no less than BBC quality. So they turned to Beeston Media. Director Hamish Beeston is a veteran of popular TV shows such as Life of Grime and Vets in Practice. His company's mission is to make the primetime television 'look' readily available to industry.
"We only use top broadcast equipment and techniques," says Hamish. "And we're careful to balance information with entertainment. There's no reason for corporate video to be dry."
Indeed, watching the new Skyquest film feels like sitting down to an episode of a high-energy police documentary drama. It features a live mission with the Greater Manchester Police Air Support Unit, yet still packs in vital information about the Video Management System (VMS) that it's promoting.
Geoff Turner, Skyquest's Marketing Director has fully embraced the power of video:
"Why risk sending a room to sleep with a lecture when you can entertain them with a film?" says Geoff. "It does the selling for you, leaving you to answer specific questions at the end."
Commissioning a film is now surprisingly cost-effective, and can be cheaper than a run of glossy brochures. It can also be turned around incredibly fast.
"You'll be amazed at what we can achieve with one day filming and a few days editing," says Hamish. "And the huge advances in streaming video mean that you can get it to your client's desktop as a simple web-link".
The film has proved a real hit, and has been viewed everywhere from the U.S to Malaysia. The GMP Air Support Unit avoid exposure on programmes like BBC1's Sky Cops, but now they are stars of their own mini-drama. It's a show to be enjoyed not just by Skyquest's target market, but also by friends and colleagues, who can now see the technical wizardry they perform everyday, as the Police Eye in the Sky.
