Colts Neck, New Jersey (PressExposure) August 19, 2010 -- On Sunday, August 15th, Simon Garber and three of his sons, Shaun, 18, Jeffrey 17, and Tyler 13, will make up the SLS JETS polo team and play in an exciting match against Yellow Cab Co. Polo team in celebration of Yellow Cab's 25th anniversary in business. Many familiar faces from the community will be cheering on the teams as well as some surprise celebrity guests to be announced soon.
Our special celebrity guest is polo player and spokesperson for Ralph Lauren, Nacho Figueras. Figueras has been the face of Ralph Lauren's Black Label line since 2005, and was recently chosen to represent the entire line of Polo fragrances. He officially plays on the Ralph Lauren Black Watch Polo Team. As of September 2009, he is ranked as one of the top 100 polo players in the world. On September 28, 2009, Figueras was a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show. The show was titled "Meet the Most Famous People in the World".
New Jersey's 12th District State Senator Jennifer Beck will honor us by tossing out the first ceremonial ball. MHA (Mental Health Association of Monmouth County) will also host a private fundraiser along the fieldside to enjoy a day with their supporters. Our star player on the 15th, Nacho Figueras, has spent his whole life around horses, growing up in Argentina with the not-that-uncommon dream of being a polo player. Now living his dream, Figueras has made what he calls one of his "life missions" to promote polo and spread his enthusiasm for the sport to audiences around the world. That starts, he says, with erasing the stigma that it is somehow stuffy and only for the well to do. Simon Garber and Figueras share the same passion to bring the sport of Polo to the people.
Billed as 'The Dog Days of Summer Party'- the Garber family opens their matches to the public and invites everyone to come and enjoy the thrill of polo while enjoying complimentary light fare and refreshments under their Hospitality Tent.
