Portland, OR (PressExposure) April 25, 2011 -- MOCK TRIALS is a comedic "mockumentary" about a young community college student named Jane Truman played by Alyssa Roehrenbeck (The Truth About Average Guys) who teams up with very unlikely courtroom players, to go up against the much bigger, and more "well-suited" (pun intended) university team, headed by her boyfriend, Connor played by Coltron James. Conflicted about "doing the right thing" or winning the big mock trial, Jane, with the help of her new friends, wannabe boyfriend Don, played by Hans Eleveld (Pathfinders: In the Company of Strangers) and quirky-hilarious ex-lawyer Professor Gavel, played by Jeff Gorham (Terror in the Towers, Selfless) take them on head-to-head in this hilarious new feature film written by Nate Dern (Upright Citizens Brigade/NYC, Beauty and the Geek) and directed by Philip De Lorenzo (The Yes Men, Pathfinders: In the Company of Strangers).
Through the interactive fund-raising website Kickstarter.com, the group hopes to raise $12,500 by May 16, 2011. All of the donations will go directly toward the filming of the movie.
Launched in 2009, Kickstarter.com is an interactive website that allows artists and creative types to raise money for creative projects from individual contributors. However, unless the artist reaches his or her goal, he or she does not receive any of the contributions. Many creative projects have been funded throughout the country via Kickstarter.com The donations are only collected if their goal of $12,500 is met by the May 16th deadline. Backers receive a range of rewards for donating, starting at $10 for a signed cast photo and written "thank you" to $35 for a unique, "Home of the Mighty Pine Cone!" t-shirt.
The rewards for larger donations include producer credits plus a speaking role for $1000+, to honorary Executive Producer status and perks (including your own producer's chair, which will never be sat in, unless it is you; with an open invitation to the set) for a donation of $7500 or more.
At the writing of this press release, they have received $1,345.00 of their goal.
