Project Management Professionals Run Cayman Courses

Tucson, AZ (PressExposure) April 28, 2009 -- Whilst Key Consulting is no stranger to the Cayman Islands, having visited to deliver its popular courses twice previously, the upcoming series of sessions in May aims to appeal to a broader audience with the introduction of two new programmes, which focus on the fundamentals of project management at an introductory level.

Ralph Kliem, a 25 year project management veteran who has worked with Fortune 500 companies, small firms and the public sector alike, is the Key Consulting instructor leading the courses. Mr. Kliem explains, “Our two new introductory courses are designed for anybody who is involved in managing projects at work, regardless of whether they are dedicated project managers or not.” He continues, “Good project management is rapidly gaining global recognition as a key facilitator of more efficient business operations for organisations in any industry sector. The advantages of equipping staff across all areas of operations with fundamental project management skills are increasingly becoming clear.”

The first introductory course is entitled ‘Project Management Fundamentals’ and takes place over three days between the 11th and 13th of May. This course is 24 hours long and is ideal for anyone interested in learning about formal project management techniques, such as project managers, project team members, functional managers and senior managers. Amongst other benefits, the fundamentals course will show its participants how best to prioritise and plan projects, improve communications and control budgets.

The second of the two introductory courses is focused on using Microsoft Project project management software, to plan and control projects. This course is a two day course on the 14th and 15th of May and is designed for any employee who is involved in managing projects. This course will walk participants through setting up projects, assigning resources, tracking progress and reporting using the software.

In addition, more seasoned Project Managers will be interested in Key Consulting’s Project Management Professionals (PMP) Certification Preparation Bootcamp, an intensive 40 hour programme designed to prepare participants to gain professional certification through the U.S. Project Management Institute. This course takes place over 5 days, between the 4th and 8th of May, and is for those who have some familiarity with project management techniques and who are seeking to becoming recognised as a certified professional in the field.

Key Consulting delivers its Cayman courses in partnership with the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce. Each course will be held at the DMS Learning and Development facility on Godfrey Nixon Way in George Town, and is designed to help improve the efficiency of employees, business people and managers in every business sector at every level.

The firm’s courses have proven popular with many of Cayman’s businesses in the past. Mr. Kliem is optimistic that May’s sessions will be warmly welcomed in the current economic climate. “In tough economic times, organisations are under greater pressure than ever to achieve more with less”, he says, adding, “Many recognise that the key to boosting productivity and efficiency lies with improving the project management capabilities of their people. This has stimulated a lot of interest in our courses.”

Mr. Kliem is a former adjunct faculty member with Seattle Pacific University and currently teaches at Bellevue Community College and City University in the U.S. He has published over 250 articles on business, communications and information systems, and has authored or co-authored 15 books.

Key Consulting has dedicated Project Management Education Centers in Bellevue, WA and Tucson, AZ and works with individuals and organisations to improve the way they manage projects by delivering engaging training courses and supplying certified project managers to organisations of all sizes.
