PROMINENT POLITICAL STRATEGIST JOINS GOVERNMENT RELATIONS DEPARTMENT OF OBERMAYER REBMANN MAXWELL & HIPPEL
William âBillâ Batoff, a highly regarded and prominent political strategist and lobbyist, has been appointed Co-Chairman of Government Relations Department of the Philadelphia-based, regional law firm of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel. The announcement was made by the Departmentâs other Co-Chairman, former State Senator and former Lieutenant Governor, Robert C. Jubelirer.
William Batoff has over thirty-five years experience as a leading political strategist. He has worked, during that period, on behalf of numerous presidents of the United States. He has also provided political election analysis during appearances on numerous panels and television programs. In addition, he has assisted the fundraising efforts of numerous gubernatorial and senatorial campaigns. Many of the countries leading politicians, appreciative of Mr. Batoffâs skills, experience and knowledge, have appointed him to a wide variety of important positions. President George W. Bush appointed him to the United States Delegation to attend the Inauguration of President Lucio Gutierrez Borbua of Ecuador as well as appointing him to the Advisory Committee of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. In addition, Mr. Batoff was appointed National Vice Chairman of the Presidential and Democratic National Victory Fund of t he Democratic National Committee (1987-88). President Carter appointed him as Federal Commissioner for the Presidential Scholars Commission. Prior to that, Mr. Batoff was an ; Financial Chairman for the State of Pennsylvania for the Carter-Mondale Presidential Committee; Member of the Official Panama Delegation to conclude the Panama Treaty, and many other vital appointments. He has also accompanied numerous senators to trouble spots around the world. In 1988, Forbes Magazine listed Mr. Batoff as one of the nationâs âTop Sixty Political Fundraisers.â

Prior to joining Obermayer, Senator Jubelirer served eight terms (1975-2006) representing the 30th District in the Pennsylvania State Senate. He served as President Pro Tempore of the Senate for nearly 21 years, which currently stands as the longest time any member has served in this role. Before ascending to President Pro Tempore, he twice served as the Republican Floor Leader. In 2001, Senator Jubelirer was sworn in as Lieutenant Governor when then Governor Tom Ridge resigned to serve as Director of Homeland Security. He held that office with its additional responsibilities until January 2003.
During his tenure in the Pennsylvania State Senate, Senator Jubelirer provided leadership on major issues such as economic development, transportation improvements, job creation, open government, education reform and property tax relief. He sponsored legislation creating Pennsylvaniaâs Tuition Account Program and the stateâs Sunshine Law, and led the fight for major child protection measures known as âAshleyâs Law.â
