Promoting Read Across America

Pleasanton, CA (PressExposure) September 23, 2009 -- "Celebrating reading through different events is a fun way to introduce children to the world of books, words and reading. Continued exposure to reading and vocabulary encourages learning and the expansion of new ideas.”

The ABC Children’s Picture Book 5th Competition has picked 12 finalists and each was paired with an illustrator. The winning team will be chosen by internet voting and will receive a publishing contract.

All readers are invited to vote. Not only can reading be fun, it’s an opportunity to participate in selecting the winner for a new published book.

The entry entitled Hello My Friends, written by Tracy Mesuda and illustrated by Michelle Munger was written to enhance children’s awareness and appreciation of our multicultural world. MaiLei, the main character learns through friends from various countries the different words to greet when they meet, providing MaiLei with a true insight to diversity around the world.
