However, according to President Alex Pelli, Lak was hired because, in addition to exhibiting practical sales experience, she embodies the set of business ethics consistently promulgated by the company. Pelli says that it takes more than demonstrable sales experience to become a member of the Prospect Genius team: "Although we're in a perpetual hiring mode for sales, we're being very picky because only sales reps that espouse our ethical code will be hired." He adds, "That slows down the process, but it produces a better team as well as a better customer experience."
The "ethical code" that Pelli refers to is contained in the Prospect Genius Integrity Pledge. The pledge, which each Prospect Genius team member is required to sign upon employment, functions as a guideline for employee behavior in the context of client interaction and overall service to the company. Emphasizing customer satisfaction, one of the tenets of the pledge reads, "[I hereby pledge to always] value the interests of the client over my own." Another one focuses on the importance of honesty: "[I hereby pledge to always] be truthful in all my business dealings both internal and external."
