Pacific Grove, CA (PressExposure) March 28, 2012 -- Psi Bands, stylish drug-free wristbands for the relief of nausea, were voted the most buzz-worthy product of the year at the Travel Goods Association (TGA) trade show held in Las Vegas. "The Buzz Award" is given once per year to the product that has created the most "buzz" at the Travel Goods Show's New Products Pavilion as voted on by retailers and members of the press.
Voters were impressed by Psi Bands' innovations in curbing the nausea (motion sickness) that can result during travel. FDA-cleared Psi Bands (pronounced "sigh" bands) are unique in three ways: 1) they are fashionable, available in five different fun designs (two of them unisex); 2) they are adjustable at two areas, around the wrist like a watch and at the acupressure point for personalized comfort and fit; and 3) they are waterproof (no more soggy wrist bands).
Psi Bands (www.psibands.com) were invented by a mompreneur after personally experiencing many months of morning sickness during her pregnancies and finding nausea relief due to wrist acupressure bands. However, she found the existing products on the market to be dull and unsatisfying and was inspired to create something both functional and fashionable for others who suffer from nausea.
Whether by car, boat, train or plane, an exciting vacation can quickly turn sour unless you are prepared for the nausea that often accompanies travel. Motion sickness strikes when the body, the inner ear, and the eyes send conflicting signals to the brain. This often occurs when the body is subjected to accelerations of movement in different directions or under conditions where visual contact with the actual outside horizon is lost. About 90 percent1 of people suffer from motion sickness at some point in their lives, with 1/3 of all people suffering in even moderate conditions and up to 2/3 suffering under more extreme conditions such as such as air turbulence, bumpy roads, and rough seas.2
In addition to relieving motion sickness, Psi Bands provide nausea relief due to pregnancy (morning sickness), anesthesia, and chemotherapy. Psi Bands are worn on both wrists at the Nei-kuan acupressure point. Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses pressure to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. Psi Bands are drug-free, thus avoiding some of the common side effects caused by nausea medications, including: blurred vision, dry mouth and drowsiness.
Psi Bands come two to a set and sell for approximately $15 per set depending on retailer and location.
