Merchants, UT (PressExposure) July 18, 2009 -- Public Relations touches all our lives and in doing so, can make a difference in many ways. Message Merchants works with Rainbows, the East Midlands Hospice for children and young people with life limiting conditions. So how does a public relations agency and a charity become bedfellows?
In part itâs a reflection of the competition involved in securing donations from a general public which has less and less money to spare. When you combine this with the need to ensure that your charity is the one that springs to mind first if there is cash to spare, it becomes clear that PR has an important role to play.
It is a delicate balance to achieve, with the perceived brash nature of Public Relations needing to be made appropriate to the subject matter. There also needs to be real sincerity in the message that you are sending and in the way that you are sending it. And whilst âWell, Iâd buy itâ has often been said in Public Relations offices across the globe there isnât a twee self congratulation that sits well in this area.
So how do we know that itâs all going well? When it becomes clear that the office has embraced not only the promotion of, but also the participation in, fundraising events, then that seems like proof to me.
