Northbrook, IL (PressExposure) January 22, 2010 -- Quantum Associates, Inc developed its new online ISO 9001:2008 Internal Auditor course and added a process management module because they discovered during live training engagements many of the participants did not understand the process concept which is the fundamental principle the ISO 9000 standard is built upon.
The process approach to ISO 9000 was introduced in 2000 and still applies to the 2008 version. The standard was reorganized from earlier versions to represent a process approach. The process approach is simply arranging the requirements of the standard in the way organizations normally carry out their activities.
According to Willie Carter, President of Quantum Associates, "We have trained many client teams in how to conduct internal audits and one of the barriers to learning was the difficulty in grasping the process concept. Based on this experience we decided to add a process management module to our internal audit training course."
He goes on to say, "Many companies include flowcharts and process maps in their ISO 9000 procedures, therefore it is incumbent upon an internal auditor to be able to read these maps and flowcharts to understand the procedure and detect any disconnects in the flow. If the internal auditor misses the flow disconnects you better believe the third party auditor will not miss them."
