REEM09 Creates Record Growth in International Renewable Energy Financing and Implementation

San Francisco, CA (PressExposure) April 08, 2009 -- The role the renewable energy sector will play in reviving the economy and boosting employment in the United States and abroad is becoming increasingly apparent. REEM09, the country’s premier conference that will address developing renewable energy strategies and international business opportunities between the U.S. and the emerging markets of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, will create a platform for a wide array of companies including financial institutions, venture capitalists, lawyers and renewable energy firms to initiate partnerships . The conference is scheduled to take place April 27-29 at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco.

Bound by the Millennium Development Goals, countries around the world are focusing on producing environmental sustainability. REEM09 offers a bridge to communication with the leaders and policy makers of budding markets to join together with the U.S. and stir up strategies and business actions in the name of renewable energy. As such, the conference includes a finance session on day two that will bring together the premier financing mechanisms available to emerging market countries to finance projects that will evolve from partnerships made at the conference. REEM09 is an unprecedented gathering of renewable energy financing institutions with collaborating partners like OPIC, USTDA, IFC, Export Import Bank, IDB, IFC and World Bank as well as private financing mechanisms such as PPAs and carbon trading.

“REEM09 will create a productive environment for companies and leaders to create financially centered working relationships,” says Richard Soyombo, Executive Director of the Bay Area Center for International Trade Development, the coordinating organization for REEM09. “With the U.S. needing a jump start to our economy, it is imperative that we use our expertise in renewable energy practices as an engine for economic growth.”

Along with instigating business networking, REEM09 helps the U.S. chart a new course for the energy future. This future relies on the use of natural resources to create innovative economic opportunities and jobs along with a healthier and more prosperous environment for generations to follow.

REEM09 will focus on successes, challenges and solutions for implementing and sustaining renewable energy infrastructures in emerging market countries. The three day event is an exclusive opportunity for public and private renewable energy technology providers, key decision makers, lawyers and investors to collaborate, network, and form partnerships to increase their role in sustaining the environment and economies worldwide.

With the City of San Francisco as official Conference host, the strong support of the Conference is demonstrated by its prestigious host committee, including United States political officials such as: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, US Senator Barbara Boxer, Congresswoman Jackie Speier, California State Assemblymember Jerry Hill and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.
