New York, NY (PressExposure) July 01, 2011 -- Real estate developer, art collector and Broadway producer Elie Hirschfeld has put his Kings Point estate on the market for $8.95 million.
The 1929 French Tudor has been completely renovated with an eye toward retaining its historic integrity, says Ilene Parsont of Soheila Sharf Realty, who has the exclusive listing. So although the masonry and stone home contains state-of-the-art smart technology as well as new plumbing, electrical and stereo systems, it still looks period, thanks in part to details as such antique slate shingles used on the roof and a triple-height rear-facing window wall constructed of lead caning and imported glass. "They tried to keep the house as it was," says Parsont.
Stephen Byrns, a former New York City Landmarks commissioner, was the architect on the project.
The 1.5-acre property contains a heated pool, a tennis court, a basketball court, a three-car garage and manicured lawns. There are nine bedrooms, nine baths and two half-baths, as well as two kitchens, a full finished basement and four fireplaces.
Elie Hirschfeld is president and chief executive of Hirschfeld Properties, whose signature projects include the Pennsylvania Hotel and the Crowne Plaza Hotel. His Hirschfeld Productions' ventures include "Flashdance: The Musical," "Equus" and David Mamet's "Oleanna." His art collection includes works by Andy Warhol, Stuart Davis and William Merritt Chase. He is also a philanthropist and athlete.
