The site, which will go live in March, will offer on trade customers within a 100 mile radius of Slough the opportunity to order via the web. The service will run alongside the order service already provided by Redsky's existing telesales and field sales team.
Commenting on the launch, Keith Lay, Redsky's Sales & Marketing Director said: "We have looked at the existing drinks portals in the market and there is an obvious gap for a specialist clicks and mortar based delivered drinks business. We already have over 1,000 products sitting in the warehouse, and our own logistics operation that delivers to over 500 customers; six days a week. So, this is a natural progression rather than an on-line start-up with no proven track-record of drinks wholesaling."
Lay believes that it is Redsky's nine years hard-bitten experience in specialist drinks wholesaling that gives it the advantage over other on-line drinks e-commerce site. Citing quickly correcting inevitable picking errors as an important example of customer service requirement, Lay said: "The occasional picking error is inevitable, but because we have our own drivers rather than a third party service, we can resolve the problem on the same day."
Redskyontrade will also deliver a significant operational cost advantage to the business. The site has been developed, and will be run by a specialist back office team in Delhi with live -up dates on stock and prices being uploaded direct from the Vintner software managed by the Redsky team based in Slough.
RedskyOnTrade.com will be launched with a trade advertising campaign, and a direct mail and e-marketing campaign to on trade customers within the target area. The site will also be featured on all of Redsky's delivery vans and lorries.
