Renata Black Helps Empower Women with a New Approach to Philanthropy

Dallas, TX (PressExposure) November 11, 2009 -- Renata Black is no stranger to giving back to those less fortunate than herself. Her latest philanthropic endeavor, Lingerie Miami, is a revolutionary concept that combines high fashion with a powerful fundraising effort to provide small loans to poor women throughout the world who could use a hand up out of poverty.

The purpose of Renata Black’s Lingerie Miami concept is to assist women in living on under a dollar a day as they break their back working to provide for their families. The program is designed to create a sustained impact through microfinance—small loans aimed at empowering women to better their lives so they can pull themselves and their families out of poverty once and for all.

The first Lingerie Miami event was held on February 7, 2009, and it featured top designers, A-list celebrities, and supermodels from each of the countries being targeted for the expansion of microfinance. These countries included the United States, Colombia, Jamaica, Haiti, and India. These countries are serving as the inaugural hosts of Lingerie Miami’s microfinance projects. The beneficiaries of these small loans are being trained on how to improve their business acumen and to make smart financial decisions that allow them to sustain their financial freedom.

But Lingerie Miami isn’t Renata Black’s first foray into philanthropy. Upon graduating from the University of North Carolina, Renata Black traveled around the world to gain a deeper appreciation of world cultures and to volunteer her time and services in each country she visited. From her work with the mentally disabled in New Zealand to her time with terminally ill children in Hong Kong, Black’s caring spirit and unstoppable goodwill has reached every corner of the world.

Today, Renata Black [http://www.renata-black.com/] remains founder of the 7Bar Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps international communities in emergency and post-emergency situations. She is also working to expand the Lingerie Miami concept to major destinations throughout the world, empowering women in countries everywhere.
