Ripley's Gives Families a Break in St. Augustine

St. Augustine, (PressExposure) February 13, 2009 -- While Americans tighten their belts in this trying economy, Ripley’s St. Augustine wants to keep the family vacation within reach.

Starting today, transportation on Ripley’s Sightseeing Trains - which take visitors on a 90-minute narrated tour through the streets of America’s oldest city - are being reduced to 2004 prices.

“Our Sightseeing Trains offer the best tour at the best price,” said Ripley’s St. Augustine General Manager Ed Shaffer. “In these challenging economic times, we felt it was time to give something back to working families and help them stretch their dollars while visiting St. Augustine.”

The $5 price cut - from $21.99 to just $16.99 per adult – prices Ripley’s Sightseeing Trains well below other similar tours in the city.

Sightseeing Train tickets are for three consecutive days and provide riders with a 90-minute narrated tour that highlights more than 100 points of interest. Each guest will have on-off privileges at 22 stops and free, on-demand shuttle service at the area’s hotels, bed & breakfasts, condos and campgrounds. Children 6-12 ride for $7.99 with kids 5 and under free.

Ripley’s has also increased the flexibility and the simplicity of purchasing discounted tickets to 19 area attractions. Visitors are now free to pick and choose their own destinations from participating entertainment and cultural offerings. Purchasing a combo pass with as many additional attractions as wanted, can save visitors up to 25 percent off regular admission.

“We have a number of great attractions in this city, and everybody likes different things, so we wanted to empower people to build value packages that are just right for them,’’ Shaffer said. “The more they pick the more they save. That’s the advantage of the flexibility we built into the combo ticket process.”

Any visit to St. Augustine is not complete, of course, without a stop at Ripley’s world-famous Believe It or Not! Odditorium in the heart of the city. Ripley’s Ghost Train Adventure (www.ghosttrainadventure.com) voted the #1 Ghost Tour in St. Augustine, is the area’s most interactive paranormal experience and departs nightly from the Believe It or Not! Nobody does ghosts better than Ripley!

With spring ready to bloom, St. Augustine is a natural destination for family travelers – whether they’re making day trips from Jacksonville, Gainesville or Orlando, or escaping the cold up north.
