Mr. Robert L. Sonfield was born in Houston, Texas in 1931. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1956, and received a certificate in Taxation in 1973 from New York University and a certificate in Securities Regulation from Harvard University in 1981. He is a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and received the St. John Garwood Award for Scholarship.
Robert Sonfield has proved his eminence time and again. As an active member of the Houston Bar Association, he served as Chairman, Interprofessional Relations Committee-Realtors, 1970-1972; Subcommittee Chairman, District Committee on Admissions, 1974-1978; Continuing Legal Education Committee, 1971-1977; Chairman, Seminar, Securities Aspects of Real Estate Syndication, 1971; Chairman, Seminar, Real Estate Syndication, 1973; Counsel, Taxation Section, 1983. He is also very active in the American Bar Association where he is a member of the Taxation Section. As a member of the State Bar of Texas, he served on the Clients Security Fund Committee, 1971-1980; was Vice-Chairman, 1973-1977; and Chairman, 1977-1979.
He also served on the following State Bar committees: Bar Candidates Committee, 1972-1974; Clients Protection Committee, 1981; and Interest on Lawyers Trust Account Committee, 1981.
