Russian Agricultural Division Harvests Sunflower

Barnaul, Russian Federation (PressExposure) October 26, 2009 -- Russian Agricultural Division, PAVA daughter subsidiary and an integrated producer of grain cereals, launched the next stage of 2009 harvest campaign. The company farms proceeded to harvesting sunflower crop, after cultivation of spring wheat and buckwheat acreage. Sunflower seeds are grown by two farming units of Russian Agricultural Division - Selkhozholding Llc. (located in the Romanovo district) and Allac Llc. (the Kamensky district); currently, operations are completed on 520 hectares.

Pursuing the strategy to become a large-scale grower of high-value agricultural crops, this year, RAD expanded the sowing acreage - sunflower, in particular, was increased 2,5 times. The company agronomists expect a positive demand outlook for this high-margin crop, on the domestic market and abroad.

Russian Agricultural Division is a company aimed at providing feedstock security for processing business of the parent company as well as external sales. The company seeks to boost land bank and achieve yield gains across all regions of its presence.


PAVA is one of the major grain processors in Russia. The company represents a 3% share of the national flour market. According to 2007 results, it was given the status 'Leading Exporter of the Industry' by Russian Ministry of Economic Development. Recently PAVA has developed a new strategy - creation of a vertically integrated agroindustrial holding. It is based on implementation of 2 projects: RAD (agricultural business operations) and Grainvest (deep grain processing), consolidated under GlobalAgro structure.
