S2 Services Makes Available Webware for Recovering Data and Text from Corrupt Office 2007 Format Files

Bethesda, MD (PressExposure) July 09, 2009 -- S2 Services is releasing a new free webware which converts corrupt Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 files to raw text or data, thus alleviating the need to re-enter the data or retype the text. The webware works by unzipping and then extracting the text or data from the possibly malformed XML files. Office 2007 files are collections of conventionally zipped collections of mostly XML files. Office 2007 appears to be able to correct corrupt zip structure, however like most XML reading software, XML corruption is less well tolerated. This webware does not have this issue.

In business since 2003, S2 Services is a data recovery company which on its website s2services.com, lists close to 200 links for recovering data lost to file corruption, file deletion, failing disks and lost passwords. It also started a Google Group: Data Recovery Freeware with over 300 posts. S2 Services also provides data recovery services. S2 Services also recently released downloadable freeware for recovering the text from corrupt DOCX files and for converting corrupt XLSX files to CSV.
