SBCA Releases Guide to Student Credit Card Accounts

Holly, NC (PressExposure) August 15, 2010 -- SBCA, known for their up to date educational guides on small business checking accounts, has just released their latest report on finding the best student credit card accounts.

“A student credit card account can be a great tool, if it is not abused. In recent years the media has caught wise to the credit card companies tactics and how they have been luring in students with special student accounts,” says John Smith. Owner of SBCA. “There are a few tricks of the trade that credit card companies use to get students to take one of their cards, these practices have been stonewalled by many universities. Universities for the longest time were the vehicle that the credit card companies used to get to the students. When students went and picked up their books from the semester, the clerk at the book store would hand them their bags which were chockfull of flyers and inserts from credit card companies. It appeared as if the university was endorsing the credit card companies to the student.”

The report covers the many different things to consider when opening any type of credit card account.

“There are some good points to having a student credit card account. Obviously the ability to secure the items that you need while in school is a huge benefit. In case of an emergency, like a tire goes out on your car, or you need to get something right away for a class you are taking, these are valid reasons as to why a student credit card account can be a good thing,” says John.

“Now for the bad things; you party with your student credit card, you live it up with your friends on your card, you buy those boots/stereo/clothes (insert all the things you can not really afford ) on your credit card,” says John. “This is bad behavior because if you cant afford to do/buy something that is not a necessity than you shouldn’t because you are racking up debt and interest on the debt that you will properly be paying for a lot longer than you will own the item or remember the time you spent partying.”

“The truth is that you rack up so much debt on your student credit card that you are paying it for literally thirty years after you leave school or you get to the point where you can not pay for it any longer and your credit is shot,” says John.
