São Paulo, Brazil (PressExposure) August 25, 2010 -- The Brazilian mining and logistics company looked for a reliable third-party company to conduct inspection and testing services in order to guarantee quality and compliance with all international and local standards and regulations.
Due to its successful experience on similar projects, SGS Brazil was awarded the contract to provide inspection services for equipment and structures during the construction of the project. During the two-year contract, SGS will provide a wide range of inspection services, including Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Manufacturing Inspection and Technical Inspection, Expediting and Non-Destructive Testing services.
Through these inspection services, SGS will ensure that the project satisfies customer requirements in a systematic and reliable way and is in compliance with all contractual specifications, codes and standards in Brazil. The team of 11 SGS experts will verify materials and equipment through checks and inspections in accordance with quality assurance procedures and a checklist relating to specific types of equipment, operational factors and the vendor's quality control system.
SGS will perform Expediting Services to identify the areas which cause potential delays and undertake the necessary actions to ensure that materials and equipment are delivered to the location on or before the promised date defined in the delivery terms.
SGS will inspect the structures of the wagon facility and ship loading terminal during the assembly by applying Non-Destructive Testing methods, including Dye Penetrant Examination, Magnetic Particle Testing and Ultrasonic Testing. Besides, in order to assure the quality throughout the project, SGS will check the welding for any discontinuities and failures in the material.
The fact that SGS was chosen to provide inspection services for this large-scale project, shows once again that SGS is widely recognized as the top player in the field of inspection, verification, testing and certification.
