Folsom, California (PressExposure) October 12, 2010 -- Scaffolding had topped the most cited violations last year. This time too, it has topped the list with about 8,371 violations.
Every year, OSHA reveals the top most cited violations chart. For the fiscal year 2010, there are approximately 94,000 violations issued. The top 10 violations represented about 48 to 49% of all the violations.
This year's result has a close similarity with that of last year's top 10 results, however there is a reduction from last year's number of violations.
The fall protection took the second place with 7,559 violations. Whenever a worker is at a height of four feet or more than that, the worker is at risk and protection is required. In general industry, fall protection must be provided at around four feet, five feet in the maritime industry and six feet in the construction industry.
In third place, the hazard communication has been placed with 6,633 violations but we can see a gradual decrease in the number from previous years. The hazards of the chemicals should be evaluated by the chemical manufacturers and importers and labels and a safety data sheet must convey the hazard information to those handling it.
