Mumbai, Maharashtra India (PressExposure) October 28, 2011 -- SKF today launched a new seal range for large size bearings in wind turbine drive trains, at the Power Transmission and Control exhibition in Shanghai. In addition, SKF will also highlight its extensive range of customized machined sealing solutions for a wide range of industrial applications.
To meet the operational challenges of wind turbines, such as continually changing weather conditions, heavy loads, remote locations and limited accessibility, SKF has developed the new HSS range of reinforced all-rubber seals for large size bearings. These seals offer high stability, easy installation during planned maintenance, and extended service life. They also feature a well-proven, spring-loaded sealing lip design with defined radial load for reliable sealing performance.
The SKF SEAL JET technology for machined seals is based on proprietary, state-of-the-art software and special tools. The technology offers high flexibility in producing prototypes, single-pieces and small series for individual customers' demands within hours if required, depending on size.
Richard Wintersteller, Marketing Manager of the SKF Sealing Solutions business unit, said: "The development and selection of seal materials and designs can mean the difference between poor, adequate or exceptional product performances. SKF understands the requirements of modern engineering and has the technology and knowledge to accommodate different application demands in its design solutions. As a result, our sealing solutions can be widely used in many industries. This year at PTC Asia, we are focusing on solutions for industrial transmission, machine tool, off-highway, oil and gas, wind energy and heavy industry."
