St. Timothy's Spring Sprint 5K Scheduled for April 17
The Second Empire Grand-Prix (www.secondempireseries.com) continues its spring series with the St. Timothy's Spring Sprint 5K. The USATF-sanctioned race is benefiting the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. It will be held on April 17 at St. Timothy's School off Six Forks Road. The fifth annual Spring Sprint will feature a new flatter and faster course through North Hills that begins and ends at St. Timothy's School. The race will include a competitive 5K run, a one-mile run/walk, and a 50-yard dash. Various prizes will be distributed to the winners of each race.
"The Spring Sprint is an excellent event that supports a great cause," says Kim Reynolds, Second Empire Restaurant and Tavern owner and founder of the Grand-Prix. "It's sure to be a great morning for the entire family."
The winners from both March races of the Grand-Prix Spring Series have been announced. Joseph Moore was the overall winner of the WakeMed Cary Distance Festival 10K. Brennan Liming was the first place female winner. At the Run for the Oaks, Srini Iyer won the overall and first place male division and Kimberly Bowler was the first place female finisher.
After five races, Katie Lackerman leads the Grand-Prix overall point standings with 4,513. Ashley Bass is the men's leader with 4,447 points. Complete standings can be found at http://tinyurl.com/2010GrandPrixSpringSeries.
