Singer-Songwriter Eric Slater Releases Single for Kevin Snyder's Short Film, 'Following the Blind'

Huntington Beach, CA (PressExposure) August 27, 2013 -- The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter known as Eric Slater has released his music for Kevin Snyder's short film of the same name, "Following the Blind." The single is Slater's most significant musical release since his popular song, "Dead Men" hit digital shelves around the world in February, sending ripples throughout the audiophile underground everywhere. Fans of Slater old and new are sure to be delighted with this latest offering, which boasts all the exceptional sonic qualities his following have come to expect from him, as well as added nuances resulting from Snyder's story having inspired the music.

Speaking candidly of the themes of his latest single, Slater writes, "'Following the Blind' was directly inspired by a short story/screenplay/short film by director/writer Kevin Snyder. It tells the story of a charismatic character, who turns out to be blind and eventually leads a massive flock of people off of a cliff."

Grim though the plot may seem, "Following the Blind" is a parable of timeless proportion and relevance that has many current events at heart. Like Snyder's film, it speaks to everyone alive in today's chaotic world.

"The moral of the song deals directly with the 'sheep and the shepherd' situation, where the number of sheep seem to vastly outweigh the number of shepherds. Yet no one really knows what they're doing, why they're here or where they're going. Consequently, they will end up enthusiastically following someone or something, to wind up scorning them in the end for leading them nowhere as well. It's a critique on egos and the absurdity of thinking one way is right and another is wrong."

Slater cites as main artistic influences a broad array of sounds, including Beethoven, Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, Sublime, Wu Tang Clan, Jeff Buckley, Miles Davis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the music of Southern California in general, and as the artist puts it, "Anything 'good.'"

Slater's acoustic solo debut album, "On the Edge of Something More," was released in 2005. He has had music placed in the People's Choice Awards and selected for major cinema ("1/2 Brothers"). He has contributed his vast talents to various acts, including guitars, songs and vocals to bands such as Bomb Squad, Moflo, Off Limits, Aurora Beckons, Astral Aliens, and Tres Aliens.

"Following the Blind" by Eric Slater is available online worldwide.
