Flushing, NY (PressExposure) October 07, 2008 -- A new web site offers help to the growing number of unemployed. SurviveUnemployment.com offers blogs and forums to unemployed people, with plans for e-commerce aimed at helping the user base (unemployed people) to earn some money while looking for new jobs.
Site creator Chuck Linart puts it this way, "I figured there would be a demand for this because after I lost my job, I was always looking for a place where other unemployed people were getting together and helping each other out."
So far, it has been difficult to find participants.
"It's so unbelievably hard to get people to find your site when there are, like, billions of other sites out there," says Linart, "But as far as I can tell, nobody's doing what we're trying to do."
While founded with the benevolent intention of providing a service, the site is also exploring a business model centered around content-relevant advertising provided through Google's AdSense program.
"There's no law against making honest money, and if Google can help me pay my rent, I see nothing wrong with it," says Linart, adding, "It's not like I ever expect to get rich off this."
