Millville, New Jersey (PressExposure) December 08, 2011 -- HowtoCoach.biz has launched an imaginative new website created to help coaches across the globe share ideas and resources in an effort to better understand the role of the sports coach in affecting the athletes they teach. The How to Coach site, introduced Dec . 4, 2011, was developed and designed by Gerald Covella, president of Digital Analytics Group. A journalist and longtime coach on the youth and high school levels, Covella observed the demand for a site that could allow coaches to interact and discuss ideas on the many issues they encounter each and every day.
"We look at the How to Coach site as an online coaching institute," said Covella, "a location in which coaches can seek out resources and concepts in their respective sports and, through this process, help them build programs that demonstrate to athletes the value and beauty of athletic competition.
"Whether it's seeking better ways on how to coach basketball or how to coach soccer ... or whether you are a football coach or swimming coach, the site is designed to be a community forum for open, straightforward discussion between all coaches," he added.
As a young journalist, Covella was a sports writer and after that advanced to the post of sports editor for Gannett, one of the world's biggest media companies. It was his experiences during those years that shaped his ideas about coaching.
"I had the opportunity to meet literally hundreds of coaches, some who directed local youth and high school teams and other coaches who were entrusted with overseeing college and professional teams," said Covella. "It was intriguing to sit and chat about their coaching philosophies."
At this time, with the kick off of howtocoach.biz, Covella wants to replicate the same type of genuine dialogue and interaction between coaches through the sport-specific forums on the website.
"I wasn't the first coach to come along and realize there are many tough issues to address," said Covella of a coach's role as mentor, "and I won't be the last. With the additional pressures and responsibilities affecting athletes today, it's important that coaches know they have a place to share their concerns, a place where they can find the answer to their questions."
According to the site's creator, the key is for sports coaches to utilize the website, especially the discussion boards that have been created as a way to build the online community.
In addition, coaches can use the website to post bulletins about their team and league, such as schedules, special events, tryouts ... anything related to the duties of a sports coach.
"We are on the ground floor, but we are confident once coaches start using the site they will find the value of sharing their ideas on how to coach with others who share their passion for athletics," he said.
