Solamon to Team With Conergy in Jamaica; Additional Projects Prioritized

Kingston, Jamaica (PressExposure) March 14, 2013 -- With an eye to helping the country reach its renewable energy mandate, Solamon Energy is pleased to announce that a formal agreement has now been reached with Conergy, a global leader in solar energy system manufacturing, project development and PV plant operation, to effectively and efficiently develop a 20 MW utility-scale solar array on the island's North Coast. According to Jay Yeo, Solamon President, the two companies intend to work together to meet upcoming deadlines with respect to the OUR-initiated 115 MW renewable tender process, and continue to meet local companies and government ministries to discuss growing privately-funded energy initiatives.

The OUR has invited interested entities to submit proposals for the supply of up to 115 MW of renewable energy electricity generation for the Jamaican national grid on a build, own and operate basis. The RFP includes competing renewable energy technologies including Bagasse, Hydro, Waste-to-Energy and Wind, with a maximum tariff for Utility-scale PV is US$26.73 cents per kWh.

"The agreement reached between us adds significant punch to our bid," Yeo explained. "Partnering with an established PV market leader adds greater assurance that Jamaica receives a world-class energy solution backed by quality," he adds.

The proposed utility-scale power solution will be located on Jamaica's North Coast in the parish of Trelwany and possess nameplate generating capacity of 20 MW. The solar array will be similar to Conergy built utility-scale PV solar projects currently operating in Germany and Spain.

"Solar farms, like the one we intend to build, will offer Jamaicans an affordable, limitless supply of electricity, bringing millions of dollars in new investment to the country along with it," Yeo concludes.

With its headquarters in Germany and subsidiaries all over the world, Conergy operates today in over 40 countries and as a leading provider of solar energy components, systems and services, employs over 1300 people globally. A recognized pioneer in the photovoltaic sector, Conergy and its partners have helped to make solar power available to people around the world since 1998.

Solamon Energy typically offers a ground-mounted solar array of integrated photovoltaic cells over a package of land called the Apollo Acre™. The company now also develops custom solutions with local partners to provide roof-mounted and parking lot systems that are easily augmented by micro wind turbine technology and other innovative features to supply renewable energy.
