Austin, TX (PressExposure) April 28, 2009 -- SolarWinds, a leading provider of powerful, simple and affordable network management software, today announced that it is offering IT teams new, cost-effective tools to tackle the challenges of a key component of network performance - IP Address Management.
The announcement includes two new products: a free tool, SolarWinds IP Address Tracker and an addition to the flagship Orion network management family called Orion IP Address Manager (IPAM). These products allow IT professionals to ditch their spreadsheets for an easy-to-use, enterprise-class centralized IP address management solution that doesn't break the bank.
Today's networks, composed of mobile IP devices, wireless users, virtualized endpoints, and other dynamic technologies are more demanding of IP space than ever. Network engineers must track and manage IP address space proactively to effectively support network services. Typically, engineers responsible for the task find themselves shackled to home-grown solutions or complex spreadsheets that are a struggle to keep accurate and up to date.
"SolarWinds' new IPAM solution is exactly what we need to manage our nearly 200 subnets and over 3500 IP addresses," said Brian de Loureiro, manager of Systems & Integration, Raleigh-Durham International Airport. "Orion IPAM's web-based management, coupled with the multiple user accounts, gives our entire IT staff the ability to go in, maintain the most accurate list of IP addresses, and set reservations while controlling access to the server. We can have our Tier 1 support assign an IP address while our Tier 2 support can reserve IPs at the start of a project to ensure we have no conflicts - all from one central web console on the SolarWinds Orion server."
"Our customers have been asking for a SolarWinds solution to IP Address Management, and when we looked at the market, we saw a huge gap between the expensive, all-inclusive solutions and the less-than-adequate spreadsheets most companies use," said Kenny Van Zant, senior vice president and chief product strategist, SolarWinds. "We wanted to bring the SolarWinds' approach to the problem, creating solutions that were both powerful and easy to use, at an affordable price. These new offerings - the free tool and Orion IPAM - build on our reputation of delivering solutions that have real impact for network admins."
