Lincoln, NE (PressExposure) May 08, 2011 -- One of the traits that has always defined the Southwestern Internship Program and the student dealers is service, and specifically, being service-minded towards others.
Recently, Southwestern Chairman and CEO, Henry Bedford, came to a realization while watching the documentary "Waiting for "Superman." There are better ways to learn and better ways to teach. But not everyone has access to the tools and people that can improve their education and, in turn, their future. We can do something about this.
For over 150 years, Southwestern has been doing the same thing - successfully. With this vast experience of selling a valuable learning product and training students to be effective sales people, we are able to take from it certain principles we know are determining factors in not only success within Southwestern, but beyond as well.
These five principles include things such as structured learning, peer interaction, mentoring, community and sharing with others. When all of these principles are put together - they unlock potential in people. These principles make up the foundations that are Southwestern Advantage products and the core of the Southwestern Company Internship Program
With this in mind, Southwestern is introducing the Share the Advantage program. Just like each student dealer makes a difference in the lives of the individual families they visit, we plan to broaden our scope and share education, resources and these five principles with every child and family we can.
To do this, for every subscription of Southwestern Advantage Online a student dealer sells, one will be donated. Each student dealer will accumulate a donation credit for each one sold to be calculated after the summer to know how many they have to give away.
The mission is simple:
Skills for Learning. Skills for Life.
Every Child. Every Family.
While Southwestern is currently working out details with potential partners who work with youths to receive the donations, there will be two methods of distribution. The first will be a nonprofit approved organization partner(s), while the second will be an organization of the student dealer's choice that focuses on youth and education that they will implement personally.
