Step Aside Rudolph, Ripley's Sightseeing Trains Are Santa's Choice of Transportation During Visit to St Augustine

St. Augustine, FL (PressExposure) May 27, 2009 -- It will look a lot like Christmas this weekend in St. Augustine. More than 60 Santas, Ms. Claus and elves are set to show up for a weekend of fun, fellowship, learning and story sharing.

During their stay in America’s oldest city, the Palm Tree Santas have decided to rely on Ripley’s historic Sightseeing Trains, also known as the Red Trains, to get around town!

“It’s going to be a great photo opportunity,” said Ed Shaffer, GM of Ripley’s St. Augustine. “All of the Santa’s - in variations of their red suits and white beards – riding the Red Trains will certainly be cause for some double-takes from the pedestrians in town! We’re proud that they chose us to provide them transportation. Ripley’s doesn’t have a red nose like Rudolph, but we have the Red Trains!”

The Santas will be arriving Friday afternoon, May 29 at their host hotel, the Holiday Inn Historic and will be dining at the Century Buffet Friday night. After a Saturday morning breakfast, the Santas will gather in the Flagler Room at the Holiday Inn at 9 a.m. for their pledge and the signing of the “SANTA CLAUS OATH” by all of the Palm Tree Santas. When the official business is over, around 11:30, the Red Trains will pick up the Santas for a narrated tour of the city. After the excursion, the Santas will enjoy the Historic District’s myriad shopping opportunities and will be seen strolling, shopping, posing for free pictures and having lunch. The Red Trains will pick up the Santas at 4:30 and transport them back to the Holiday Inn.

The Santas will again board the Red Train for dinner Saturday night at the famous Schooners Seafood Restaurant to enjoy more of the local cuisine. The Santa's will conclude their weekend with breakfast and a round table discussion Sunday morning.
