Plymouth, MA (PressExposure) August 19, 2013 -- More than 185 runners, walkers and strollers navigated the new course at the third annual Run for Faith 4.58 -miler this past Sunday, August 11. From fleet-footed track stars to parents with strollers, area residents and visitors took advantage of a perfect summer day and a new panoramic course.
Men's winner Peter Brown came in at 27:54 and was followed by Ted Poulos and Benjamin Knappmiller. The women were led by Brittany Reed at 34:02 followed by Jessie Harlon and Karen Hugill. The stroller division was rolled up by Molly Garcia at 41:00 followed by Andrea Stamr and Erin Grealis.
The new, improved race course was expanded from 4-miles to 4.58 miles and featured views of Warren Cove along Route 3A in Plymouth as well as a scenic detour through the woods on Bump Rock Road and Forges Road. Sites included Cape Cod Bay, the Eel River and scenic horse farms, as well as unmatched history. The race began and finished at Plimouth Plantation.
"The Run For Faith has become exactly what we intended it to be - a great, healthy community event for all ages," said Matthew Romboldi, Run for Faith organizer and son of Marcy "Faith" Romboldi, in whose memory the race is held. Faith lost her battle to ovarian cancer in 2010.
The third annual Run for Faith is a gold member in the Bayside Runner Racing Series.
The entry fees once again go to scholarships for Plymouth high school students, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the Plymouth Public Library and other Plymouth charities and non-profits. Last year's Run for Faith resulted in two $2,500 scholarships for graduating Plymouth North and Plymouth South high school students; The Run for Faith also has contributed $10,000 to Dana Farber's Yawkey Center for Cancer Care since 2011.
The Run for Faith is organized by Run for Faith, Inc., which is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to commemorate the special life of Faith "Marcy" Romboldi who gave so much of herself to both individuals and the community.
