Dallas, TX (PressExposure) February 17, 2010 -- In 2008, it was estimated that only 0.3% of all pets were insured, and 64% of those insured were insured with Pet Insurance VPI. It has been estimated that by 2012, the pet insurance industry will grow to become a 664 million dollar industry.
With the pet insurance industry increasing as it is (about 25% since 2003), what can it be that's making pet owners "fork over" cash, even in times like these?
For many pet owners, judging by the above statistics, for about 99.7% of pet owners, pet insurance is not necessarily seen as a necessity. Some pet owners feel that veterinary bills aren't costly enough to where they would go out and create another monthly bill to cover the costs. Others, may not know the exact cost of getting their pets insured, or maybe have never even considered it. Then, of course, there are those who feel that when it's their pets time, it's just their pets time. Regardless of which of these applies to a given pet owner, most pet owners feel some sense of pain when they lose their pets.
To date, many advances in veterinary sciences have been made, and owners are starting to understand more and more that they can actually give their pets fighting chances against whatever illnesses they may encounter. Some of these fighting chances come in the form of shots, some come in the form of pills, and every so often, there are those that come in the form of surgery.
It is, of course, the later of these which has some pet owners researching, and comparing pet insurance companies and policies, to see which policy best fits both their pets, and their budgets. There is no mistake about it, having a surgical procedure conducted on a pet can amass quite a bill. This bill, however, can be avoided at the grand price of $10 to $30 dollars a month.
That's right, contrary to what may be popular belief, the cost of most policies with Pet Insurance VPI and other pet insurance companies is in between $10 and $30 per month. Not bad considering the cost of surgery which can get into the thousands.
When it comes to saving pets lives, many owners would like to think money wouldn't be an issue, but in actuality, it is a very real issue, and can be one of the main reasons a pet ends up being euthanized, rather than operated on. Now, however, $10 to $30 a month can help pet owners avoid having to submit to this, "mercy killing" prematurely.
