Decatur, Georgia (PressExposure) May 20, 2013 -- TFB Music Group leaks Sankofa's first single "The Only South I Know", produced by Classic off the forthcoming mix tape "Change for a Dollar Vol. 1: A Requiem for a Hustle." Sankofa, known for his soulful, conscious, and classy lyrics is what makes this project so compelling.
"It's not enough to be lyrical and have people lost because you using big words, and it's not enough to say something that sounds cool with no substance to it. You have to be able to balance out giving people something to think about and learn from and have a good time. That's what I want my daughter to come up on. Edutainment," Sankofa explains about his brand of music.
Sankofa is on TFB Music Group, an independent label that was founded in 2012. In prepping for the release of his "grits" tape "Change for a Dollar Vol.1: A Requiem for a Hustle", strong beats, lyrics and consistently good topics are top priorities. "I call it a "grits" tape 'cause it'll stick to your ribs. No microwave rap. It's a metaphor just like the title says, just changing your mindset not just for a 'dollar' but for success as a whole. I rap but I live Hip Hop culture. I live Southern culture. I'm a Southern artist and won't a thing change that." When asked about the stereotypes some Southern artists still fall into, Sankofa, simply says, "They don't apply here. My music speaks for itself...with a drawl."
