Thai Students Excel in Cambridge Examinations

Cambridge, United Kingdom (PressExposure) October 07, 2008 -- Four students in Thailand have been ranked Top in the World for their exceptional performance in Cambridge IGCSEs in the November 2007 and June 2008 examination sessions. The talented students will be presented with prizes at the Brilliance in Thailand awards ceremony on Friday 10 October, organized by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

Catarin Napapongjantra (Bangkok Patana School) and Athiya Voravijitarpan (Harrow International School) share the Top in the World award for Cambridge IGCSE First Language Thai; Don Jamkajornkeiat (Shrewsbury International School) is the Top in the World student for his performance in Cambridge IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences; and Chutima Tirakijpong (British Council Bangkok) is the Top in the World student for Cambridge IGCSE Development Studies. These students outperformed thousands of Cambridge IGCSE candidates, and so their achievements are truly exceptional.

The awards ceremony will also recognize 22 students who achieved the top mark in Thailand in a single Cambridge IGCSE subject, and 3 students who gained the highest marks across 4 Cambridge IGCSE subjects.

The awards will be presented at the ceremony by the British Ambassador to Thailand, Quinton Quayle. Students will also be congratulated by CIE Representative Stefanie Leong. Stefanie said: 'The wide recognition of CIE qualifications internationally has encouraged more students to enroll for CIE examinations in Thailand, and we are delighted to host this ceremony to celebrate their success.'

Cambridge IGCSE is the world's most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds, and is taught in thousands of schools worldwide.
