The Buckinghams Celebrate Coleraine Centennial in Concert April 17, at Greenway Auditorium

Bryan, TX (PressExposure) March 25, 2009 -- The Buckinghams return to Minnesota for the official Coleraine Centennial Celebration at Greenway High School Auditorium on April 17.

The Buckinghams return to Minnesota on Friday, April 17th, to perform in the Greenway High School Auditorium for Coleraine’s 100th anniversary. Centennial celebration organizers planning the birthday bash invited the band to headline the concert for this historic occasion. The Buckinghams began their career in 1965 in Chicago as recording artists for Columbia Records. “Kind of a Drag,” their first hit, became number one on the charts, sparking a succession of hits that led to being named “The Most Listened to Band in America” in 1967.

The Buckinghams are best known for Top 10 hits including “Hey Baby, They’re Playing Our Song,” “Don’t You Care,” “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” and “Susan.” Lead singer Carl Giammarese said, “The Buckinghams are pleased to return to Minnesota, and we’ll be performing all our hits, plus other Solid Gold 60s favorites.” The group’s latest release, “Reaching Back,” is available nationally on Fuel Records. Bass player Nick Fortuna noted, "The Buckinghams began our career playing for high school dances, so it’s like coming home to playing the Greenway High School Auditorium for this celebration."

The event marks the 100th anniversary of the town built and planned as a model village for the mining area. A member of Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders, John C. Greenway, who was instrumental in developing the Mesabi iron ore range, named the town in honor of Oliver Cole, then president of Oliver Mining Company. The concert begins at 7:30 pm. Reserved seating is $30 per ticket, with a Centennial special of 4 tickets available for only $100.
