Atlanta, GA (PressExposure) February 21, 2011 -- If you drive under the influence in Georgia, you will likely have to go to an Atlanta DUI School. Going to DUI school can be a drain on your resources and the resources of your family. The school can cost almost three hundred dollars, and you have to spend twenty hours attending the DUI school. Since the offense, even if it is a first offense, can cause you to lose your licenses for up to a year, you may have to beg or pay somebody to take you. As if this is not humiliating enough, you will also have to do at least forty hours of community service.
There is also a good chance you will be going to jail possibly up to a year. The minimum amount is ten days, but that would be a really long ten days. A person who has never been in jail, would have trouble imagining how awful it can be to be confined in the small hole for any length of time. Other expenses include fines that may be up to a thousand dollars, and would not be less than three hundred. Getting your license back is two hundred and ten dollars. This is all just for a first offense.
The next time could cost you to lose your license for three years, and the fines would not be less than six hundred dollars. Jail is more likely, and it will be for at least ninety days. Community service is up to a minimum of thirty days. You will also have to go through treatment programs and be evaluated. No matter what number offense this is, you could face additional charges, like manslaughter, if you cause a wreck that is fatal. Non fatal wrecks could still bring additional charges and lawsuits.
The Atlanta DUI Schools is a way to help you work your way out of getting the most severe punishments. It is likely what your lawyer will recommend and/or you may be ordered to attend. Some have flexible hours. Typically, you will attend an Atlanta DUI school for two and a half days. There is no online option. You will likely need to attend whichever school is closest, though going to a different Atlanta DUI School may be an option. The classes at DUI Schools, will hopefully teach you to never drive under the influence again.
Going to an Atlanta DUI School, would not be the worst part of the punishment. In fact, it could be the least painful part. The main cost could be emotional, especially if somebody is hurt. There could be a lot of physical pain if you were hurt. There are many people whose lives have been forever changed for the worse because of driving under the influence. The safest thing is never to drink any alcohol before driving. Different people have different levels of tolerance and taking certain medications can make people less tolerant. There is a country song by Tim Mcgraw, about drunk driving that says you should stop because, "This ain't nothing to die for" and that is good common sense.
