Maharani Hotel , Calicut,Kerala, is proud to be celebrating 50 years in business this year and is planning a range of celebrations to mark the occasion. The hotel, which was opened by Shri. Thomas Michael in 1961, he is the senior partner and guiding visionary of the Group, is now run by Mr. Reji Michael,is responsible for the group operations, business policy and corporate planning, new projects and human resource management. His relationship management and people management skills have developed him to be the goodwill ambassador of the Group.
Since it first opened its doors Hotel Maharani has welcomed many well-known guests including Prem Nazeer, Jayan, Sathyan, Seema, Mohanlal, Kunjako Boban, Pakru, Mammotty, Jacki Saraf to name but a few. Hotel Maharani has been the base hotel for the Kerala Team for the past ten years and has also held many memorable events including the Onam Celebrations, The Visu celeberation and numerous high profile weddings.
The current owners, The Hotel Maharani, have made extensive expansions on the original site, totaling $55 million in 1995. This resulted in a unique architectural hotel comprising of 256 luxury guest rooms, including 21 suites; two dining rooms, including the AAA/CAA Five Diamond Eden dining room; two lounges; over 17,000-square feet of meeting space, and spa and fitness facilities, completing the evolution of a two-tub bath house into the Four Diamond hotel it is today.
