Kolkata, West Bengal India (PressExposure) March 02, 2011 -- Beauty & awe ruled the evening as the city's glitterati came together to witness the biggest and the solitary leather products fashion show by Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA) in association with Asian Leathers hosted at The ITC Kolkata. Exceeding all fashion barriers, the show was a splendid flaunt of leather products by leading models of international and national stature like -Sofia, Himarsha, Bhavna Sharma, Kanishtha Dhankar, Alesia Raut, Diva Dhawan, Racheal, Sanea Sheikh, Candice Pinto, Madhavilata, Jessica, Satarupa, Neeraj and Ananda among other leading models. Model turned tollywood actor Anshuman Gupta walked the ramp as the show stopper of the evening elevating the mercury level. The commissioner of Police, Shri Gautam Mohan Chakrabarti was also present at the do.
The models sashayed the ramp with their implausible looks sporting the outfits designed by Komal Sood, Pooja Doshi & Jaya Misra. Leather products that were showcased at the event included- ladies bags, handbags, clutches, hobo handbags, unisex bags, men's bags, briefcases, portfolios, holdalls (travel bags) and belts. Prestigious export units like Shivmani Export1s Pvt. Ltd., D2 International, Lexus Exports, Rene, Trio Trend Pvt. Ltd., Crescent Export Syndicate, Metropoli Fashions (P) Ltd., ASG Leather Private Limited, Om Leather Artdeco Pvt. Ltd.& Wallets Plus displayed their exclusive product range on the ramp where elite models sported these products with flair.
A three member panel, which included the designer Abhishek Datta, Mrs. Antara Kumar, Executive Director (Technical), ILPA Infrastructure Development Foundation & Shri Nari Kalwani, Managing Director, Asian Leathers Ltd. judged the episodes presented at the Show and declared the winner of the ASIAN LEATHER Trophy for the best sequence. As in earlier years, awards were given for excellence in various categories of the leather goods export performance for the best reported results for the immediately preceding year in exports of finished leather, leather garments, industrial leather gloves, leather footwear and leather goods. In addition, the Lifetime Award for contribution to the leather goods industry was conferred this year on the Association's former President, Shri G.K. Gulati.
The show was conceptualized and maneuvered by the industry's renowned fashion choreographer Lubna Adams who has to her credit many successful events like-India Fashion Weeks, IIFA Dubai 2006, IIFA Bangkok 2008, Miss World Fashion Show Seychelles 1996 & 1997, Manish Malhotra, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Neeta Lulla, Vikram Phadnis, and Madhur Bhandarkar's film 'FASHION' to name a few. This high voltage fashion event celebrates leather fashion through a mélange of exquisitely designed leather products.

The Fashion Show is the annual event of ILPA that intends to position the city on the global map as the hub for fashionable leather goods."
The Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA) is a distinguished guild representing the manufacturers & exporters of leather & leather products in the country. Headquartered in Kolkata, it also has a regional office in Chennai. Established in 1987, the Association, at present, has more than 150 reputed players enrolled as members which have all made a mark in the industry by coming up with products having strong brand equity, thus providing them wide international acceptance. The Association was nominated by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Government of India, Council for Leather Exports & Government of West Bengal for setting up of the new Leather goods Park in Bantala.
