London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) April 08, 2009 -- Independent News and Media Limited today introduced SustainIT, the first in a series of monthly supplements on Information Technology and the environment. The SustainIT podcast series was produced in association with British Telecom. The series will feature a number of leaders in the field of Sustainability, Economics and the Environment.
Each of the first three Podcasts, available to listeners at http://sn.im/sustainit , offers discussion of the current opportunities for information technology to move us towards a more sustainable approach to IT.
The podcasts contain compelling discussions on sustainable Information Technology practices, featuring leaders in their fields - Roger Trapp, Geoffrey Lean, Hamish McRae, Michael McCarthy and Jeremy Warner.
"My own view, is that IT, and the new technologies in general, are one of the few weapons we have whereby the world can increase its standard of living without putting too heavy a footprint on the planet," says Hamish McRae, Chief Economic Writer/Associate Editor for The Independent ( http://www.independent.co.uk/ ).
"IT gives us many opportunities," McRae added. "This is just an argument for doing it better, finding ways of using what we've got to move towards a more balanced world economy."
Listeners can find the Podcast series on the Independent's SustainIT website, http://sn.im/sustainit.
