Mjolby, Sweden (PressExposure) June 11, 2013 -- The Preventica Fair in Lille, France (this year running from the 28th - 30th May) draws attention to the importance of safety and risk prevention in the workplace. This year, Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) took home the Innovation Award in the Material Handling, Stacking and Lifting category.
A jury comprised of members from large companies, official health organisations, and specialised members of the press chose the SpotMe warning system from Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE), as the design that best reinforced the importance of forklift safety in the warehouse.
Unlike other systems that use alarm bells attached to the forklift truck to alert operators and pedestrians, SpotMe's unique risk prevention system uses extremely sensitive infrared sensors and lights -- independent of the forklift truck -- to alert anybody in the surrounding area of a potentially dangerous scenario. This allows even the noisiest of work environments to remain safe and productive. SpotMe is simple to use, easy to install and, thanks to a long life battery or connection to a power supply, low maintenance.
Hans Larsson, Director of Logistics Solutions at Toyota Material Handling Europe revealed, "Winning the Innovation Award for SpotMe at the Preventica Fair 2013 highlights the safety initiatives and efforts upon which Toyota Material Handling Europe's core principles are based. SpotMe has already been installed in all TMHE factories and we've been receiving positive feedback from our customers. The award, plus the continued growth of interest in SpotMe, highlights the market's increasing need for, and investment in, stationary safety systems at a time when safety solutions are typically installed on vehicles themselves. We will continue to 'work together for risk prevention', strengthening our commitment to safer warehouse operations."
